Like-New Performance at a Fraction of the Cost
A properly cleaned and reconditioned IBC tote performs identically to a new one for most applications. Our process restores the bottle interior to a contaminant-free state and replaces every wear component in the cage and valve assembly.
The result is a tote that meets the same performance standards as new at 40-60% of the cost, while keeping 130+ pounds of HDPE plastic and steel out of landfills. It is the most cost-effective and environmentally responsible choice for businesses that use IBC totes regularly.
Whether you are sending us your own totes for reconditioning or purchasing reconditioned totes from our ready inventory, every unit goes through the same rigorous process described below.
Six-Step Cleaning Protocol
Our cleaning process follows a strict six-step protocol developed to meet FDA, EPA, and industry-specific hygiene requirements. No shortcuts, no exceptions.
Initial Inspection
Every tote is visually inspected for structural damage, contamination level, and previous contents. We document the condition and determine the appropriate cleaning protocol based on what the tote previously held.
Triple Rinse
The interior bottle is rinsed three times with clean water to remove residual liquids and loose particulates. This initial flush eliminates the bulk of contaminants and prepares the tote for deep cleaning.
High-Pressure Wash
Using industrial pressure washers operating at 2,500+ PSI, we blast the interior and exterior of the HDPE bottle. Hot water at 180 degrees Fahrenheit combined with commercial-grade detergent breaks down oils, residues, and biofilm.
Chemical Sanitization
For food-grade and pharmaceutical applications, the bottle undergoes chemical sanitization using FDA-approved agents. This step kills bacteria, mold, and other microorganisms to meet strict hygiene standards.
Final Rinse & Dry
A final rinse with purified water removes all cleaning agents, followed by forced-air drying. The tote is then inspected under UV light to verify that no residues, stains, or contaminants remain.
Quality Verification
The cleaned bottle is pressure tested for leaks, visually inspected for clarity and cleanliness, and graded. Totes that meet our standards receive a certification label with cleaning date, protocol, and technician ID.
Mechanical Reconditioning
Cleaning is only half the job. Our reconditioning process replaces worn components and restores the structural integrity of the cage, pallet, and valve assembly.
Valve Replacement
The existing discharge valve is removed and replaced with a brand-new 2-inch butterfly or ball valve. We test flow rate and seal integrity before approving the new valve for service.
Gasket & Seal Replacement
All lid gaskets, valve seals, and O-rings are replaced with new components that match the original specifications. This prevents leaks and ensures a proper seal under pressure.
Cage Inspection & Repair
The galvanized steel cage is straightened, re-welded where needed, and treated for rust. Damaged mesh panels are replaced, and lifting tabs are verified for structural integrity.
Pallet Repair or Replacement
Wooden, steel, or composite pallets are inspected for cracks, rot, and load-bearing capacity. Damaged boards are replaced, and metal pallets are straightened and re-coated as needed.
Label Removal & Marking
All previous labels, hazmat placards, and markings are removed. The tote receives a new label indicating its reconditioned status, cleaning protocol, date, and assigned grade.
Final Assembly & Testing
The clean bottle is seated back into the repaired cage, all connections are tightened, and the complete assembly undergoes a fill test to verify capacity, stability, and leak-free performance.
Quality & Compliance
Our cleaning and reconditioning processes are designed to meet or exceed regulatory standards and industry best practices. We maintain documentation for every tote we process.
- FDA 21 CFR CompliantCleaning agents and processes approved for food-contact surfaces. Suitable for food-grade IBC reuse.
- EPA Guidelines AdherenceWastewater from cleaning is treated and disposed of according to all applicable environmental regulations.
- DOT RequalificationTotes previously used for hazardous materials are cleaned and tested to DOT specifications for continued transport use.
- Internal QA ProgramMulti-point inspection checklist verified by trained technicians. Every tote receives a unique tracking ID and certification record.

Equipment We Use
Our Fort Wayne cleaning and reconditioning facility is purpose-built for high-volume IBC tote processing. We have invested in industrial-grade equipment that delivers consistent, repeatable results on every tote that moves through our line.
The facility is organized into dedicated zones for intake inspection, cleaning, reconditioning, quality testing, and finished goods storage. Food-grade and chemical totes are processed on separate lines to prevent cross-contamination.
Industrial Pressure Washers
Hot water systems operating at 2,500+ PSI and 180F for deep interior and exterior cleaning. Removes oils, residues, biofilm, and stubborn deposits.
Automated Rinse Station
Multi-nozzle rinse system delivers precise triple-rinse cycles with metered water volumes. Ensures consistent cleaning across every tote.
Pneumatic Pressure Test Rig
Sealed testing station pressurizes each tote to 1.5 PSI and monitors for pressure drop over 30 minutes to detect micro-leaks at valves, caps, and bottle walls.
Cage Straightening & Welding Station
Hydraulic straightening tools and MIG welding equipment for repairing bent cage bars, broken welds, and damaged lifting points to original specifications.
UV Inspection Lamps
Ultraviolet light stations reveal residual contamination, stains, and cleaning agent traces that are invisible under normal lighting conditions.
